BREAKING NEWS: WE ARE EXPECTING PUPPIES!!!!!!!
ODE TO JOY EXPECTED
CHRISTMAS CURLS 2024
MOMO is pregnant: we are very happy!
Fiere Ysaud van Elegast: this is our Momo!
Born on August 5, 2019, she was just a few centimeters tall and weighed less than 500 grams and fit in one hand. Today she is an impressive 64 cm tall and weighs 31.5 kg.
After Maxi's death, it was clear that we needed a second dog. But what kind?
A glance was cast at the water dogs and then discarded. It quickly became clear that it would be a retriever again. Old dog books were brought out into the light of day and pored over. A picture book about the six different retriever breeds - and the eye was drawn to the Curly Coated Retriever, what a head, what an expression!
It was over for us.
But where do you get a dog like that? None of us had ever seen a dog like that in real life, let alone experienced one. Countless phone calls were made to breeders and dog owners at home and abroad. All of our questions were answered willingly and patiently and some stories were told.
In the early summer of 2018 the time had finally come!
Our journey took us near Amsterdam to the Van Elegast kennel of the renowned breeder Brenda Van der Zwet-van Rijn. It was an experience and a joy to finally see, touch and experience real Curlys.
Everything we had previously imagined in our imagination was surpassed by reality.
What impressive, great, big dogs. With a happy heart and the certainty that we had a place on Brenda's puppy waiting list, we drove back to the Rhineland.
It would then be more than a year before the "Fiere" (great) litter was born and many kilometers were covered between Bonn-Amsterdam-Bonn to witness the development of the puppies.
Finally, in the winter of 2019, Momo moved in with us in Bonn. Momo quickly and inquisitively got to know her environment and mastered the big dog ABC with flying colors (from house training, puppy playgroup, dog school, driving, children, cyclists, joggers, trams and buses, restaurant and cafe visits, Christmas markets to rides in the cable car) - in short, everything that makes a wonderful life together necessary!
We can't imagine our lives without Momo, what a dog! The many stories about his intelligence, charm, love, sense of humor, incorruptibility, uniqueness have come true for us.
When we heard all the stories before, we often thought, oh please let's not get carried away - a dog is a dog, no, Curly is actually unique to us.
For our part, we believe that if the human is willing to get involved with this dog, you get a real team that is second to none.
You see: Momo has wrapped us around her little finger in record time and captured our hearts. She is smart, funny, eager to work, a clown who makes us laugh and when she comes to cuddle, it's like being held in her arms. Her whole being is an ode to joy!
We are very grateful to Brenda Van der Zwet-van Rijn for entrusting us with this wonderful dog. Unfortunately, Brenda can no longer share with us the joy of Momo's splendid development and her wonderful show successes, as she died suddenly and unexpectedly in February 2021. Brenda will be remembered forever!
This great dog breed deserves to find more lovers. We would therefore like to contribute to the preservation of this wonderful breed and have therefore decided to breed with Momo!
Momo received her breeding license in September 2021.
In the conformation assessment she received an excellent rating, the judge said: "Excellent bitch with a very feminine head, dark eyes and excellently carried ears, lots of charisma, excellent build, correct in all parts, moves with good swing."
Momo passed the character test according to the new DRC examination regulations with flying colors in all parts.
Momo is active in dummy training and in companion dog work. Once a week she takes part in group and individual therapy with a psychotherapeutic background, which she masters with a lot of empathy, calmness and friendly attention.
Momo and we now have insights and experience in the show business. We had never been to a dog show before and had no prior knowledge of how to present ourselves properly in the show ring. Due to the Corona pandemic, we were of course only able to start this year and with great success.
For clarification: the following conformation scores can be awarded: Excellent (V), Very Good (SG), Good (G), Sufficient (Ggd) and Disqualified (Disq)
